Can we include our dog in our next family session??

The short answer is YES!! but it does depend on the location and of course, your dog, how they handle being around others etc. I will of course trust your judgement on that!

There are a couple snags to the Yes in my answer:

First of all, some of my locations don’t allow dogs to be on the property, so be aware of that aspect when selecting and choosing a location for your next family session! 

If you bring along your pup to pictures, I always recommend not including them in every single image and group. So we can start with the family + dog or we can end your session with the dog joining for pictures--whatever you think will work best for your family, kids and/or dog.

Lots of my clients bring along a leash, of course, and also leave the pup in the car (when its not too hot of course, and with the windows down) while we finish up the session.

I don’t typically allow pets in my studio especially during mini sessions just for the sake of other clients, allergies and sometimes we just can’t risk the sets getting damaged-- I hope you understand!

In the future, I might offer pet portraits in the studio--but for now as a general rule, not pets in the studio. Reach out to me if you want to ask about an exception!

Helpful hints: Bring along a leash, treats and of course a way to clean up after your sweet dog! Secondly, and pretty important make sure the “dog whisperer” of the family is the one who is taking care of the dog, its help to just have one dedicated person helping and giving commands to get the dog settled into the group shots etc. I will leave the dog "handling" to you and your family because not all dogs appreciate strangers ;) I will help with trying to get everyone including your dog looking at me, the best I can, and this is wear sometimes treats come in handy too!

I love family pets so IF you definitely want to include your dog in your next family session let me know ahead of time so that we make sure all details work and we can make it happen–because your dog is a part of the family too,right?!
